  • UX design: “Aro”, Kiha’s intelligent mobile assistant platform (Android). Campaigned for, and lead a complete interface overhaul to keep pace with quickly evolving mobile UX expectations.

  • UX and UI design: “Saga”, ARO’s intelligent assistant + social networking app. Deeply involved in the conception and design of the app itself (on both iOS and Android native platforms), subsequent marketing, and social media campaigns.

  • Comprehensive branding + logo design and style guide documentation for dozens of clients.

  • Lead UX/UI designer: “Crossfader”, a social network for digital creatives. Cutting edge interaction design was chosen by Microsoft to showcase their emergent Silverlight platform.

  • Concept and RFP presentation for Microsoft’s MGX conference helped win contract to create major components this massive annual global marketing event—the success of which secured future MGX events.

EDULAB, INC  3/2017 - 10/2017, UX Designer, Branding, Motion Graphics (freelance)
”DeepRead” advances the state of the art in handwriting recognition with machine learning and AI. Responsible for all facets of design: primarily UX/UI (web/mobile-ready UX to facilitate large scale form processing and management, with streamlined human verification and intuitive editing), but also branding (logo), and product launch marketing (mobile/responsive website and motion graphics). Helped guide product design, and implemented desired product capabilities via collaboration with tech and dev teams.

AGILYSYS  9/2015 - 3/2016, UX Designer (contract)
Principle designer of “RGuest Seat”, a restaurant reservation system with a native iOS and desktop web client interface. Overhauled existing UI for consistency and improved usability. Redesigned the entire complex booking process with a new, more “human” interaction paradigm—which lead to development of a new product for a different market in the process. Designed UX and UI for this new product, seeing it through iterative design, wireframes, user testing, redlines, and asset creation. Worked directly with Product Manager, Test Lead, and off-site developers.

MICROSOFT (TWC)  2/2015 - 6/2015, UX Designer (contract)
Trustworthy Computing (TWC) aggregates threat intel from Homeland Security, NSA, FBI, and other Microsoft groups and partners. Brought in to analyze and assess existing interfaces. Redesigned UX/UI to improve usability for existing [highly technical] users, and “productize” the interface for a much wider user base. Designed inventive new predictive code entry scheme, substantially increasing accuracy and user efficiency. 

ARO INC (originally KIHA SOFTWARE) 2/2010 - 7/2014, Lead UX/UI Designer/Art Director
The “Aro" suite of productivity apps and “Saga” brought machine intelligence to mobile devices a half-decade before it became commonplace. Initially hired to assist lead UX designer, and quickly moved to lead UX design duties. Became deeply embedded in a small team of visionary data scientists, linguists and developers to design Aro, an Android-based “Intelligent Assistant” system, and Saga, a unique personal tracking and recommendation app for iOS and Android. Streamlined production process with team of designers, enabling a massive UI change in record time. Cultivated strong working relationships with PMs and developers.

RADARWORKS 2006 - 2009, Senior Designer
Performed wide range of design duties: UI/UX, branding, print, web, trade-show/event planning, video and motion graphics. Significant clients include the Space Needle (rebranding, interaction design, Addy award-winning website), Boeing (event design), Microsoft Windows, Bing, Xbox, Server, UC, MGX (event design, collateral, web, video, UX/UI).

TEAGUE 2006, UX/Interactive Designer (contract)
UI/UX and info design of complex internal application for Boeing. Worked directly with client to assess functional needs, presented multiple concepts, refined visual and functional design through several iterations. Brought a fresh eye and new approach to several facets of immensely involved project, often reaching beyond the visual/information design role. Prepared extensive graphics standards guide. Created detailed sets of icon designs for mobile devices. Offered full time position with Teague at the end of contract.
